Benefits of Gratefulness Featured in LA CAMFT Newsletter

SHELBY STONE, MMFT

This past June, the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (LA CAMFT) featured my article, The Science of Gratitude, on the benefits of gratefulness in their newsletter. As a psychotherapist who helps clients embrace the many physical and mental health benefits of practicing gratitude, I enjoyed being able to share the neuroscience and research behind gratefulness practices.

In busy Santa Monica, it's easy to experience stress and want to vent, but this article talks about the negative impact of focusing on anxiety, anger, and frustration. Alternatively, practicing gratitude on a regular basis helps to increase well-being and feelings of positivity according to research by  Dr. Robert A. Emmons. Other benefits include: stress reduction, feeling more balanced and rewarded, improvements in interpersonal relationships, decreases in sadness and other negative emotions, increases in self-esteem and empathy, improvements in physiological functioning, and more!

To learn more about ways to practice gratitude and it's many benefits, check out The Science of Gratitude. Thank you again to LA CAMFT for your support.
